Program Overview

Welding, cutting, and brazing are hazardous activities that pose unique risks to both safety and health. Some hazards encountered during welding and cutting operations include exposure to toxic fumes and gases, burns, noise, electrical shock, ultraviolet (UV) radiation, cuts and crushing injuries. Employees who participate in welding, cutting and brazing operations are included in the industrial hygiene monitoring program at Emory University and will be provided the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and training to ensure their safety.
